About this site
I admire Cubism and functionalist objects, and gradually, I developed a desire to own some of these items myself. I spent a long time searching for what it could be, exploring what kind of art I could collect in a way that would be financially accessible for me.
I often visit the collectors' market at Červený Kameň. It was there in 2014 that I met Martina Kunovská, who ignited my passion for collecting. I received my first information about pressed glass. I was thrilled by the variety of patterns and designs of this glass. On the very day of our first meeting, I took home Urban (20048) and Brabec (5122). I still have them on display, and they form the foundation of my collection.
I immediately began searching for more pressed glass. I came across Jindřich Pařík's website cs-sklo.cz, which contains a wealth of information. Jindřich's contribution to Czechoslovak glass is incredibly significant. Thanks to his website, glass has regained attention, not only among specialists.
The decision to collect only pressed vases came after reading Michal Treštík's book The Art of Collecting Art (Umění sbírat Umění). Clearly defining the boundaries has kept me disciplined to this day.
Later, I decided to create this website, where I compiled a comprehensive overview of pressed glass based on the information I had gathered, something that was previously lacking.
I wish all collectors many quality finds, and to the visitors of this website, I hope you enjoy the shapes of pressed glass.
